Conditional drug use means an opportunity to have certain drugs in the herd and, after agreement with your veterinarian, treat certain specific diagnoses. Everyone who carries out drug treatments in a pig herd must, with approved results, have completed a training course in conditional drug use for pigs.
The training concerns, among other things, the following topics:
• What conditional drug use is and which laws and regulations apply
• Storage and handling of medicines and what risks exist
• Different types of medicines and how they work in the pig
• How to detect and treat sick pigs
• Common diseases in pigs and preventive animal health care
• Killing

The practical review is primarily carried out by one of Gård & Animal Health’s veterinarians. For customers who have an agreement on conditional drug use with Gård & Djurhälsan, the practical exam is included in the course fee. For other course participants, an hourly rate is added. For customers who have an agreement on conditional drug use with another veterinarian, and where Gård & Djurhälsan does not have the opportunity to carry out the practical review for any reason, this can be carried out by the crew’s own veterinarian. This is agreed in each individual case and the cost of a practical exam is then agreed with the own crew veterinarian.
Of course, it is also possible to complete the course and get your course certificate during the current course year.
When all parts are completed, you will receive a course certificate that is placed in your course room. The course certificate only applies to the pig species.
